Grant Awards for 2018/2019 to South Sudan Sudanese postgraduate students by the Gordon Memorial College Trust Fund (GMCTF), London.
At the annual meeting of the Executive Committee of the GMCTF on 19th April 2018, a number of South Sudanese applicants for grants to support postgraduate studies in various Universities were awarded. The Grants were varied in nature and included support with living expenses or full support with tuition fees and living expenses. Some applicants had already received grants in previous years and, on the basis of their satisfactory progress, the grants were extended to ensure completion of the respective courses pursued by the applicants.
Evidently there were very few females applicants for the grants which was disappointing. The next round of grants will be awarded in March/April 2019 and applications will open on 1st December 2018 and close on 28th February 2019. I encourage any applicants seeking grants to pursue postgraduate studies to log on to the GMCTF website www.gmctf.org in December 2018 and apply online. It is important that at the time of application, applicants must ensure that they have the following information to submit with their applications:
- Admission letter to a recognised University.
- Two letters of reference, one of which must be from a person the applicant has worked with or had been supervised by.
- Clear statement of other sources of funding.
- A letter from the Bursar or Chief Finance officer of the University stating clearly in writing the fees for the course and recommended subsistence expenses per year on the headed paper of the University.
